The Dragon Diaries Update

Flying Blind, book one of the Dragon Diaries paranormal YA trilogy by Deborah Cooke

The Dragon Diaries is a paranormal YA trilogy and a spin-off from Dragonfire, that was originally published in 2011 and 2012. The series follows the coming-of-age of Zoë, the daughter of Erik and Eileen, who is anticipated to be the new Wyvern of the Pyr.

Since the rights reverted to me from Penguin, I’ve only made ebooks of the series available. There are still some of the remaindered Penguin paperbacks available in the world, but to date, I haven’t created new print editions.

Since Dragonfire is set in real time, Zoë was conceived in Kiss of Fate and born in 2008, so she turns 16 in 2024. The Dragon Diaries is set in 2024, although I had to guess what the world would be like twelve years in the future. I failed to anticipate Covid-19 🙂 and hadn’t yet written the big finish of the Dragonfire Novels. I did anticipate smartphones, although in the books, they’re called “messengers.”

In 2024, there will be new editions of The Dragon Diaries. I’ll update the story to reflect what has actually happened in the last twelve years – this will be pretty minor, so don’t worry about huge changes to the story you know and love – and there will be new print editions. There will be new individual trade paperbacks, and a new illustrated hardcover omnibus, too. I’ll be launching those new print editions with a Kickstarter campaign early in 2024, along with the revised ebooks.

In August, I’ll be unpublishing the current ebooks from the retail portals, so if you’re in the middle of reading the series, finish it up now!

New Apple Links

Flatiron Five Fitness Boxed Set 3, including the final four contemporary romances in the series by Deborah Cooke

For a whole bunch of reasons, I’ve changed how I deliver content to Apple. This means that the links for my books at Apple have changed. All of the books are still there, and any that you’ve purchased will remain on your device of choice. There are just new links for any that you buy in future.

The first change is for my upcoming releases. If you have pre-ordered the Flatiron Five Fitness Boxed Set 3 at Apple for December delivery, your pre-order has been cancelled (because I unpublished that edition). Please re-order again with the new link so you get your book.

When my paranormal romances come out of Kindle Unlimited, they’ll be republished at Apple with new links.

Also, the links in the Reading Guide that was available at Apple won’t work anymore. I’ve unpublished that volume so there’s a generic edition availalble in the Apple store. (You can tell it’s the new one, because I updated the copy to say “Updated for 2022”. The Apple edition said “2020” because I forgot that update.) If you downloaded yours from Apple, I suggest you delete it and either download the generic version from BookFunnel or Apple. The links in the generic version bring you back here to the website.

The other (horrible) thing that happens with this change is that all of the reviews on my books vanish in the Apple bookstore. This is because Apple doesn’t link various editions of a book together. This is what the product page for Just One Fake Date used to look like:

Just One Fake Date on Apple

Nice reviews at the bottom, and new ones, too. 🙂

But here’s the painful detail:

Just One Fake Date on Apple with 1100+ reviews

Over 1100 reviews, a rating of 4.4 overall, and those reviews are all gone. 😦

So, if you reviewed any of my books on Apple before, I’d love if you posted your review again on the new edition. I’ve updated all of the links here on my site so you can follow the Apple link on the individual book page to Apple for the new edition of the book. Thank you!

I apologize for the inconvenience. Like most of these changes, all will be better once the transition is done. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

January New Releases

Did you miss any of my new releases in January?

This year, January was about translations of my medieval romances.

The Crusader's Bride, book one of the Champions of St. Euphemia series of medieval romances by Claire Delacroix, Spanish edition

This first book was actually published at the very end of December – The Crusader’s Bride is now available in a Spanish edition. La novia del caballero de las Cruzadas is the translated title. It was published through Babelcube, so has been taking a while to get to the various portals. I published the ebook and a trade paperback edition, too.

You can learn more about Gaston and Ysmaine’s story in Spanish on my Delacroix website, right here.

The Crusader's Heart, book two of the Champions of St. Euphemia series of medieval romances by Claire Delacroix, Spanish edition

The second title published in January was the second Spanish translation in the Champions of St. Euphemia series. Wulfe’s book is called El corazón del caballero de las Cruzadas in Spanish, and the series is called Los campeones de Santa Eufemia.

Los Campeones de Santa Eufemia sigue a un grupo de caballeros a quienes se les ha confiado un tesoro en Jerusalén que ellos deben entregar de manera segura a París.  En el camino encuentran aventuras y peligros, además de romance.

The translator will be finishing the series, so I’ve set up pre-orders for the other books. You can find them on my Delacroix website, too.

The rose Red Bride, book two of the Jewels of Kinfairlie series of medieval romances by Claire Delacroix, German edition

I also published a new German translation in January, of The Rose Red Bride, book two of the Jewels of Kinfairlie series. Die rosenrote Braut has been enrolled in Kindle Unlimited, so is available exclusively at Amazon through April.

Madeline’s book is also available in German, but it’s in wide distribution. You can learn more about Die schöne Braut on my Delacroix website.

I have more translations coming in February, including some contemporary romances, but don’t have all the covers prepared yet. Stay tuned!

New Editions of Flatiron Five Tattoo

The updated editions of Flatiron Five Tattoo (previously called Secret Heart Ink) have now been published at all portals.

The new editions have the beautiful new covers and revised titles shown below.

Just One Snowbound Night, book one of the Flatiron Five Tattoo series of contemporary romances by Deborah Cooke Just One Vacation Night, book two of the Flatiron Five Tattoo series of contemporary romances by Deborah Cooke
Just One Unforgettable Night, book three of the Flatiron Five Tattoo series of contemporary romances by Deborah Cooke Just One Christmas Night, book four of the Flatiron Five Tattoo series of contemporary romances by Deborah Cooke

The contents are the same as the original versions, but I added a reader letter and introduction to Just One Snowbound Night. If you bought the books in their earlier editions, you should be able to download the new edition as an update. It will over-write the old edition, so you have to choose whether to have the old one or the new one.

At Kindle, it’s a little more complicated as they don’t always push out updates. I’ve asked them to do as much with this one – just as they said they would with Flatiron Five Fitness – but you may have to request it at your end, as well.

Next week, I’ll update the F5F Character list.

The Flatiron Five Boxed Set Update

Flatiron Five: The First Collection, a digital bundle of the first three contemporary romances and romantic comedies in the Flatiron Five series by Deborah CookeA reader contacted me last week to ask about an update to the Flatiron Five Boxed Set. This was a really good question and I had to think about it a bit.

The boxed set as originally published included Simply Irresistible, Addicted to Love and In the Midnight Hour. The issue is that there’s a new series starter, and that Just One Fake Date, while it’s Tyler’s story, is a different story than Simply Irresistible. Currently, the boxed set is unavailable – if you have it on your e-reader, the cover is at right. There’s no page for it on the website anymore, because it’s no longer for sale.

What I’ve decided to do is update the boxed set with Just One Fake Date and the two updated stories, Just One More Time and Just One Night Together. If you own the boxed set pictured at right, you’ll be able to download the new edition (which will have a new cover) as an update. I’ll do this around or slightly before the publication of Just One Silver Fox, which is just about the time that Just One Fake Date will become a free series starter.

Just One Silver Fox, book six of Flatiron Five Fitness series of contemporary romances by Deborah CookeThe thing is that if you download this update, the existing file will be over-written. That means you won’t have Simply Irresistible anymore. There’s no way around this, so you’ll have to choose whether to take the update, or buy the new editions separately.

Then I’ll create a second boxed set, including Just One Hometown Hero, Two Weddings & a Baby, Just One Second Chance and Just One Silver Fox next summer, and publish it around the time that Aidan’s book is released. Aidan’s book will be the first in a new contemporary romance series set in Harte’s Harbor. I may also do a boxed set of the four books in the Flatiron Five Tattoo series next summer.

I’ll get the covers done closer to the end of the year and will put up a pre-order for the second boxed set once the first one is updated and available.

That’s the plan!
