Some projects take their own sweet time. It’s hard to believe that we started the process of repackaging the Dragonfire Novels in September 2025. It was a huge task, with twelve books, each in two new editions – jacketed hardcover and trade paperback with duplexed covers. New interiors. A new chapter background. When I got samples, we had to tweak some of the colours to make them more distinct from each other. We also had to fiddle with some of the dragon silhouettes on the spines. It was a big big project. By this past summer, all 24 new editions were locked and loaded for delivery at the portals in December 2026.

Then I remembered that I needed a bookmark. Those people who ordered copies of the hardcover editions early from me were owed a foiled bookmark featuring the new covers, but this design also proved to be a lengthy process.

Last week, I ordered bookmarks in two versions – foiled and not foiled. They’re all in a larger format 3.6 by 8.5″ and they’ll look like this – that’s the front on the left and the back on the right:

The foiled version has gold foil on the front. Pretty much everything gold on that side will be in foil. It’s going to be shiny!

The foiled version goes out to readers who buy the hardcovers in my online store. I will ship those out as soon as they arrive – they’re scheduled for delivery by October 20.

These look really good together. You’ll need 15″ of shelf space for them. Here they are with the jackets.

If you remove the jackets, the case laminates don’t have any type, so you can see the dragons on the spines better.

It’s funny to see the difference between the two pictures. Same bookshelf but the one with the jackets was taken on a dingy day, while the sun was out for the second shot.

Remember that in this edition, Harmonia’s Kiss is included in the Dragon Legion Collection. In the previous print editions, it was included in Here Be Dragons because NAL still held the rights to it. Now those rights have reverted so it can go in a better place.
