New Look

It was past time for me to update the theme for this site – a theme is a kind of a template – and I ended up doing it yesterday. How do you like the new look? I think it’s crisper and cleaner, and I’m sure it looks better on phones. (Haven’t checked that yet myself.)

New site design for DeborahCooke.com

There are always things, or maybe they’re just changes. I’m still fiddling with the page title – right now it’s centered, but really, it should be centered over the left column which displays the page. And I think I set the banner incorrectly – it’s not scaling when I change the size of the browser window. Tweaky tweaky.

Other changes – all of the menu options are at both top and bottom, but that’s probably better navigation (esp on phones). It seems I can only have one banner on this theme – previously I could load a few and the site would randomly rotate through them each time a page was loaded – but that’s not such a big deal. It brings focus. 🙂

I tended not to choose a featured image for my blog posts in the past, because the old theme didn’t use them. This theme does – they’re the thumbnails that appear in the sidebar or the blog page. I went back to add a few and will continue to do that going forward but there are a lot (a lot) of old posts without them.

If you find any issues when you’re browsing around, please comment on this post to let me know. 🙂

Next I need to update the Delacroix site. I’m thinking of using the same new theme for simplicity’s sake, but that won’t happen until this current book is done.
