Review for Wyvern’s Mate in Audio

Wyvern's Mate, book #1 in the Dragons of Incendium series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeKim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer posted a 4-star review for Wyvern’s Mate. She listened to the audio edition. Here’s some of what she said:

“Both Drakina and Troy are well developed. She is snarky and will eat you if you piss her off. He is smart and lethal. I loved seeing them trade barbs and their sizzling chemistry curled my toes. I adore when characters have clear goals, but upon meeting, it all goes to hell in a hand basket. It is always fun seeing how it all works out, even while worrying that something will go awry. I enjoyed watching the romance that developed. Cooke offered some laugh aloud moments allowing me to connect to these strong individuals.

Despite Cooke introducing this world, the length of the tale made things develop quickly. While this is dubbed book one, it read more like a prequel. I loved the Dragons, from the stubborn entitled Kings to the reader of prophecy. Some of the tidbits from pregnancy to diet were fabulously entertaining. I do marvel at Cooke’s vivid imagination.

Wyvern’s Mate is a complete story regarding the couple, but there is so much more to learn about these planets, their sun and the other planets in their galaxy.

Saskia Maarleveld once again narrates for Cooke, and she is such a perfect match for these stories. She captures Drakina’s personality, sets the pace, and her male voices aren’t raspy.

If you love Dragons, off planet stories and paranormal romance you’ll want to grab a copy of Wyvern’s Mate.”

Thanks Kim!

5 Star Review for Wyvern’s Mate

Wyvern's Mate, book #1 of the Dragons of Incendium series of paranormal romances by Deborah Cooke, in audioHere’s a wonderful new review for Wyvern’s Mate. Heather reviewed the audio version of the story, narrated by Saskia Maarleveld.

Here’s a bit of what she said:
“For lovers of romance, adventure, and science fiction, this book is a must read! A sci-fi passion is a must as the story includes multiple worlds and characters with superhuman powers and who transform shape. Deborah Cooke delivers a gripping story which makes the novel hard to put down.

I listened to the audiobook version, read by Saskia Maarleveld, which was outstanding! Saskia Maarleveld has a beautiful voice that is clear, easy to listen to and adds character to the story. She is one of my favorite narrators out there and to listen to her tell a tale is a true delight. The combination of an amazing narrator and an amazing author makes this novel a must listen-to story!”

Audio Review for Wyvern’s Mate

Yesterday, Debbie Haupt posted a review of the audio edition of Wyvern’s Mate on her blog, The Reading Frenzy. It’s  a lovely review, so I’m sharing it with you today.

Wyvern's Mate, book #1 of the Dragons of Incendium series of paranormal romances by Deborah Cooke, in audioHere’s a good bit:
Deborah Cooke’s first in her new Dragons of Incendium series is a masterful melding of Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Paranormal romance. Her cast of characters are colorful in dragon or human form, her imaginative world is both familiar and foreign and her stars, the defiant yet compassionate heroine and school of hard knocks hero, rock the universe. Her dialogue is fast paced and fluent and she completes her tale brilliantly in an economy of pages. I can’t wait for the next dynamic dragon tale!

The sultry voice of Saskia Maarleveld is the perfect choice for Cooke’s debut Fantasy series in audio, starring Troy and Drakina the shape-shifting princess of Incendium. Listening to the novel enhances the enjoyment of Wyvern’s Mate in multiple ways; one is learning the correct pronunciations another is the satisfying pace, inflections and emotional narration of Saskia.”

Thanks, Deb, for the wonderful review!

Fabulous Audiobook Review for The Frost Maiden’s Kiss

The Frost Maiden's Kiss, a medieval romance and third book in the True Love Brides series by Claire Delacroix There’s a wonderful new review of the audiobook of The Frost Maiden’s Kiss at Rabid Reads this morning. This is pretty much the best way to start a day, in my opinion. 🙂 Here’s a snippet:

“The Fae aspect of this book wound through the story in different ways, all the while taking a backseat to the romance between Malcolm and Catriona. While it’s not the focus, it is however the catalyst for many of Malcolm’s decisions concerning Ravensmuir and Catriona. Storytelling back then was one of the few ways of entertainment the people had. A lot of it is in the form of poems and songs. Catriona sings of the Fae, but doesn’t believe in them. This was one aspect that I enjoyed listening to, rather than reading. Not that the narrator sings, but I found it easier to listen, when I would probably have skimmed that part of the book, had I been reading.

I did think the narrator, Saskia Maarleveld did a really good job. She was excellent at the accents she used, all the while keeping it clear for the reader to understand every word. Sometimes a Scots accent is hard to understand for the average person(Outlander anyone?), but not so here. I would like to listen to other audio books by this narrator as she added a lot to the story for me, especially as she portrayed the depths of feelings between the two main characters.

I don’t read that many historical books, although I do like them for a change of pace sometimes, and this one really fit the bill for me. I enjoyed getting to know the main characters, reading the obviously well researched historical aspects, and of course, the romance. As far as the Fae, we do see just enough of them to see how evil they are, and also see how much havoc they can create. There’s threats of war, and someone from Catriona’s past comes around just to cause more drama. There’s some twists here, and I think this is the perfect story for adult historical romance readers that enjoy a paranormal element in their stories.

FYI-It’s not necessary to read any of the other books in this series, in order to enjoy this one.”

An Audio Review from Eniko

It seems to be the week for great audio reviews, which makes me very happy. Here’s an awesome one from Eniko for the audiobook of The Warrior’s Prize.

The Warrior's Prize audiobookIt’s a five star review!

“I think this has to be my fave of the series. I loved them all, but this one speaks to me more. Elisabeth is a woman after my own heart, she believes in herself and goes for what she wants and she wants Raphael. I want him too LOL he joins the ranks of my fave book boyfriends. He is rough around the edges because of his life from an early age, but he is a good man. What a twist in the middle of the story, and a bigger one towards the end, bigger than the usual ones the author throws into the story. The story weaves wonderfully, I found myself one moment saying YES and the next OH NOOOO, or laughing the next, it kept me on the edge for sure. A true love-conquers-all story with a well deserved HEA ending *sigh*
Saskia Maarlaveld delivered a gem of a story as usual. Her talent amazes me every time, and her voice is truly a marvel. Thank you for the enjoyable story and the many hours of listening bliss.”

Isn’t that a great review?

MORE Audio Reviews from Eileen

I told you that I had to catch up Eileen and her audio reviews! Here are a couple more that I missed sharing with you.

The Renegade's Heart audiobookEileen reviewed my medieval romance, The Renegade’s Heart, in audio, narrated by Saskia Maarleveld. Here’s part of what she had to say:

“I’m delighted to continue the story of the Lammergeier sisters.  Saskia Maarleveld does such a great job telling the story, touching the very essence of each character’s spirit. I’m amazed with her range of voice portraying males, children and females. I never tire of listening to her….

Ms. Delacroix provides a delightful, appealing, fantastical historical romance that continues to amuse, beguile and enchant.  She and the narrator will propel you into their medieval world and you will be ensnared as I am.  On that you can rely!”

The Rose Red Bride, a medieval romance by Claire DelacroixAnd Eileen also reviewed my medieval romance, The Rose Red Bride, also narrated by Saskia Maarleveld. Here’s part of what Eileen had to say:

“With eloquence, wry humor and gems of wisdom strewn at my feet this story unfolds in the velvety voice of narrator Saskia Maarleveld. The combination of voice and eloquent dialog was more than a listen. It was an experience!

I’m captivated with the story, this part of me which loves fae lore, fairy tales and an undying sense of honor where word means truth…If you are of the ‘tartan’ inclination, enjoy intrigue, bravery, sensitivity and passionate men and women of Scotland, you’ll have no problem enjoying both the read and the listen. “Of that you may be sure!”’

Another Audio Review

Eileen has been busy listening, and I need to catch up with her!

The Highlander's Curse audiobookEarlier this week, Eileen reviewed the audiobook of my medieval Scottish romance, The Highlander’s Curse, narrated by Saskia Maarleveld.

Here’s part of what Eileen had to say:

“Narrator Saskia Maarleveld, with her warm alto voice knows how to tantalize a listener.  Her voice modulation easily captures the gender, emotion and spirit of each character. I’ve had the pleasure of listening to her in other narrations.  She’s extremely talented, perfectly grasping the poignancy of each scene.

As with all I’ve read or listened to by Claire Delacroix, she holds me entirely engrossed and never am I disappointed with the telling. I love the rather archaic pattern of speech she uses in the Jewels of Kinfairlie and Lammergeier saga. Her stories are a perfect blend of magic, suspense, passion, honor, deceit and greed. She has me listening well beyond the time I should be doing something else. Simply delightful entertainment–on that you can rely! If you haven’t started reading Claire Delacroix, you are missing a wonderful magical land where dreams do come true, yet danger lurks beyond the shadows.”

Thank you, Eileen! You can read the rest of Eileen’s review on her blog, right here.
