Zoë Sorensson is destined to be the next Wyvern of the Pyr, a hidden society of dragon shifters led by her father. She’d like nothing better than to join the fight to defend the treasures of the earth, but her rumored powers are AWOL. That all changes when her best friend is bullied and Zoë leaps to Meagan’s defense, loosing her inner dragon for the first time. Zoë soon realizes she has to master her newfound powers immediately, since there’s a new threat to the Pyr and the humans they defend. Can she and the younger Pyr join forces with other shifters, defend their kind, and keep their natures secret from their human friends?
The Dragon Diaries Omnibus includes all three YA fantasy novels in Zoë’s coming of age story as the new Wyvern of the Pyr: Flying Blind, Winging It and Blazing the Trail.
The Dragon Diaries is a spin-off series from Deborah Cooke’s bestselling paranormal romance series, The Dragonfire Novels.

This hardcover omnibus is available in two print editions: an illustrated luxe edition offered only at Kickstarter, my online store and at events, plus an edition available at retailers. The cover and dust jackets have the same design, but the luxe version has gold foil accents on the dust jacket and all gold on the case laminate is gold foil. The luxe edition also includes colour illustrations inside the book.
There are four colour illustrations in the book, all done by Jaka Prawira. Each features one of the four characters – Zoë, Garrett, Liam and Nick – in both their dragon and human forms. These were printed on character cards for the Kickstarter backers.
Here’s a compilation of all of them together:

Each image appears on a colour double-page spread in the luxe edition.

The retail edition has the same imagery on the dust jacket and case laminate, but no gold foil. It has a black-and-white interior printed on cream stock, instead of colour illustrations inside.
You can see more in this blog post.
There is also an ebook omnibus with all three books in the trilogy, which includes the character illustrations, too. It’s available exclusively in my online store:

Praise for Flying Blind
“Zoë is a wonderful heroine—smart, strong and sympathetic. Bring on book two!”
Kelley Armstrong, #1 NYT bestselling author
“FLYING BLIND is a wonderful way to be introduced into the Dragonfire world for new readers of this author to enjoying a pick-me-up while loyal readers wait for the next book in either her adult Dragonfire series or the Dragon Diaries series. This had the right amount of drama, action, suspense, humor and more that will please both adult fans and her new young adult fans. Deborah Cooke delivers one heck of a high octane ride in FLYING BLIND. Are you ready to explore the world of the Pyr?”
Love Romances and More
“Cooke’s dragon lore is engrossing. The characters are lovable and the story is completely entertaining. Flying Blind is a fun tribute to the trials of growing up – learning to believe in yourself and figuring out who you are and want to be. While Zoe figures herself out, she is awkward and ridiculous – seriously, you totally feel embarrassed for her! It’s 1 part adorable heroine, 1 part high-flying adventure (literally) and 2 parts hot dragon & spellcasting boys = a fantastic reading experience!”

“In her debut young-adult series, Deborah Cooke already proves that she can string the readers in a sky-high tale. Make no mistake, readers will not want to be “Flying Blind” when delving into this new series or else miss all the actions, juicy romances, and dangerous twists and turns. Mystic powers, cryptic dreams, and a hot guy with an equally hot motorcycle make Flying Blind a joy to read.”

“This. Book. Rocks.”
One a Day YA
“I dare any reader to start this book and not get caught up in the story immediately. The first of the new series about the next generation of dragons, FLYING BLIND is a story of coming of age, of finding one’s true worth, and of trusting in one’s self. Zoë is a typical teenager, but also a young woman who understands the gravity of her role in life. Learning her innate skills, and how to use them for the right reasons, she cannot help but mature. Told in the first person, readers understand her confusion and frustration, her dreams and hopes, and a typical teenage girl’s fascinations and humor.
A Perfect 10 review from Romance Reviews Today
For a thoroughly enjoyable and completely entertaining fantasy and a great start to a new series, don’t miss FLYING BLIND.”
“Let me be the first to say that Deborah Cooke has hit the nail on the head with her dragon lore! I know that this new YA series is a spin off of her original “Dragonfire” series, and so I should have known it would be amazing. Cooke not only paints the reader a gorgeous portrayal of dragon kind with the Pyr, but she also gives them a rich and detailed history about them as well. Add in a few bad guys and some fight scenes, and I was hooked. Learning with Zoë was seriously fantastic. I felt myself frustrated when she was, excited when she was, all the while uncovering history with her. As I read I found myself immersed in the world that revolved around Zoë. Just in terms of setting and back story, I was already in love with this book…

Flying Blind is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise saturated market. The simple fact that Zoë is so strong and calculating makes her different than a lot of other MC’s her age, and that makes her intriguing in my book. Add in some great dragon lore, and you have a series that I can fully get behind.”
“Flying Blind was an exciting young adult novel that involved the wonderful dragon’s we know as Pyr, a cast of deep and interesting characters, an exciting chain of events, swoon worthy romance, great mystery and action I wish would never end.
Mocha Latte Reviews
Recommended for readers who love dragon lore, teenage drama, a character who visibly grows, shape-shifting baddies and romance that will make you wish the sequel came out earlier.”
“This story crosses the boundaries. It will appeal to both teen and adults across the board. The story is engaging and fun. It’s bringing to life a world of dragons and magic that appeals to all.”

Praise for Winging It
“Sure to become a classic!
Diana for Fresh Fiction
WINGING IT, Book two of the Dragon Diaries, continues with the fascinating characters introduced in first book, while adding in a few new faces. Cooke’s deliciously complex plot immerses those who met Zoё in the first of the series, Flying Blind further into the world of the Pyr while revealing the faces of other types of shifters living hidden among the humans. Her clever ability to convey what it means to be going on sixteen while being faced with dark world- altering dilemmas has created a unique and compelling young adult series bursting with magic, mayhem and danger. It will hold pride of place on my keeper shelf.“
“WINGING IT is a fun, action-packed ride from start to finish. With her trademark writing style, Ms. Cooke delivers one adventure after another as Zoe deals with everything and she really steps up to the plate here. She is definitely one kick-butt heroine that I enjoy immensely, even if she is a teenager. If you are looking for a dragon shifter series to enjoy or need your fix of the Dragonfire world, then grab the books in the Dragon Diaries series. Ms. Cooke delivers another stellar story in the world of dragons and I am eager for the final chapter for Zoe. Will Zoe, her Pyr friends and allies finally beat the Mages? Can Zoe ever live comfortably in two worlds? Find out in The Dragon Diaries Trilogy and get ready for one entertaining ride.”
Love Romances and More
“Picking up from Flying Blind, Zoë and her crew of extremely hot boys never seem to be able to catch a break. Cooke engages the readers in the world of dragons and shifters that is every bit as fantastical as the first. Not a big fan of dragons? Well, these boys might change your mind from a cool, dark and handsome to a cutie pie, there’s enough personality to please everyone. Don’t forget Zoë, our strong heroine who kicks major booty and still manages to find time worrying about her best friend…
Books by Their Cover
Winging It was an action-packed sequel. Plenty of fresh new faces and many old ones that never gets boring. It had a clear direction of where it’s heading, some place where I surely would like to find out. With new questions left to be unanswered and relationships really heating up, you can surely bet that I will be reading Blazing the Trail.”
“WINGING IT is the worthy sequel to the excellent FLYING BLIND which introduced Zoë. She is, basically, a typical teenager, falling in love, dealing with parental issues, and having normal angst for someone her age, but with a twist, obviously. Zoë is also extremely intelligent, and amazingly brave. Her loyalty to her friends and fellow shifters is admirable, but she has also learned not to burn her bridges, especially when it comes to possible liaisons with other non dragon shifters. Hoping to get all of the shifters to work together to fight the Mages, Zoë has her hands full. Plus she needs to get her homework done!

Another terrific dragon shifter novel, WINGING IT is a fun read, and I can’t wait for the next installment.”
Praise for Blazing the Trail
I have been a huge fan of Deborah Cooke for many years. When a new release comes across my path, I truly do a happy dance. Cooke has lived up to her previous work with BLAZING THE TRAIL. I loved how Zoe deals with the everyday issues in front of her while trying to save the world with the Pyr and fellow shifters.
Fresh Fiction
“There are so many twists in this book, I loved it. I could not put it down, and read it in a day. If you have read Deborah’s adult books, with the adult dragons, then you will love this series with the kids!”
Books Complete Me
“Deborah Cooke’s third book in her Dragon Diaries trilogy gives a whopper of an ending to her YA spin off of her adult paranormal romance series.”
The Reading Frenzy
“I love this series and sorry to see it end. Well written and the characters are very likeable. I hope Ms. Cooke is setting us up for the next phase of dragon books. I can’t wait to read about Zoe and Jared, Nick and Isabelle. I want MORE!”
