24 Books

This year has been a really busy one for me in terms of publishing, but I didn’t realize how busy until I sat down and made a list last weekend. I love lists and this is yet more evidence why.

I’ve been publishing a LOT of books this year. Here’s the list so far:

One Knight Enchanted, book #1 of the Sayerne series of medieval romances by Claire Delacroix1. One Knight Enchanted
This was a revision of an older title (originally published in 1998 as Enchanted) which I thought would be quick and easy. Instead, it turned out to be such a huge editorial process that it would have been easier to just write an entirely new book.

2. In the Midnight Hour
Book #3 in the Flatiron Five series of contemporary romance. This is Damon and Haley’s book.

3. A Duke By Any Other Name
This is book #2 in my Brides of North Barrows series of Regency romances. It was originally published in the Christmas at Castle Keyvnor anthology Charmed at Christmas, but I published it on its own in March.

Wyvern's Angel, book #9 of the Dragons of Incendium series of paranormal romances by Deborah Cooke4. Wyvern’s Angel
Book #9 in my Dragons of Incendium series of paranormal romances.

5. Kiss of Fire
A new edition of the paranormal romance and book #1 of the Dragonfire Novels. Again, I thought this would be an easy update, but it was more work than I expected – plus there were seven more titles to be prepped for publication. The titles that were already available all had to be updated, as well.

6. Kiss of Fury
A new edition of book #2 of the Dragonfire Novels series of paranormal romances.

Kiss of Fate, #3 of the Dragonfire Novels, a series of paranormal romances by Deborah Cooke7. Kiss of Fate
A new edition of book #3 of the Dragonfire Novels series of paranormal romances.

8. Winter Kiss
A new edition of book #4 of the Dragonfire Novels series of paranormal romances.

9. Whisper Kiss
A new edition of book #6 of the Dragonfire Novels series of paranormal romances.

10. Darkfire Kiss
A new edition of book #7 of the Dragonfire Novels series of paranormal romances.

Flashfire, #7 of the Dragonfire Novels, a series of paranormal romances by Deborah Cooke11. Flashfire
A new edition of book #8 of the Dragonfire Novels series of paranormal romances.

12. Ember’s Kiss
A new edition of book #9 of the Dragonfire Novels series of paranormal romances.

13. Snowbound
Book #1 of Secret Heart Ink, a contemporary romance series that is also set in the Flatiron Five world.

14. Spring Fever
Book #2 of Secret Heart Ink.

Some Guys Have All the Luck, #4 in the Flatiron Five series of contemporary romances by Deborah Cooke15. Some Guys Have All the Luck
This is book #4 of my Flatiron Five series of contemporary romance.

That’s where I’m at so far. Some of these haven’t been published yet, but they’re all locked and loaded at the portals and thus are off my desk (and off my To Do list).

Still to come for this year are the following titles:

16. Nimue’s Gift
A short story set in the Dragons of Incendium world, and #10 in that series, coming later this month (along with the print edition of Wyvern’s Angel).

17. Flying Blind
This is book #1 of the Dragon Diaries, a paranormal YA trilogy set in the world of the Dragonfire Novels, follows Zoë’s coming of age as the new Wyvern. It’s being republished in a new edition.

Winging It, book #2 of the Dragon Diaries paranormal YA trilogy by Deborah Cooke18. Winging It
This is book #2 of the Dragon Diaries, a paranormal YA trilogy set in the world of the Dragonfire Novels, follows Zoë’s coming of age as the new Wyvern. It’s being republished in a new edition.

19. Blazing the Trail
This is book #3 of the Dragon Diaries, a paranormal YA trilogy set in the world of the Dragonfire Novels, follows Zoë’s coming of age as the new Wyvern. It’s being republished in a new edition.

20. Here Be Dragons: A Dragonfire Companion
A world guide for the Dragonfire Novels, coming in October.

One Hot Summer Night, #3 of the Secret Heart Ink series of contemporary romances by Deborah Cooke21. One Hot Summer Night
Book #3 of Secret Heart Ink, coming in September. This Gabe and Lexi’s second chance romance.

22. Going to the Chapel
A short story set in the Flatiron Five world and #4 in the series, coming in September. My working title for this is Two Weddings and a Baby, which tells you all you need to know about it.

23. Under the Mistletoe
Book #4 of Secret Heart Ink and Chynna’s story, as well as a Christmas story, coming in October.

24. The Runaway Bride
Book #2 of my Brides of Inverfyre series of medieval Scottish romances and Ross’s story, coming in October.

Phew! This list makes me realize why I feel like I’ve been working all the time! It’s good to have all these books available again, but I’m glad to be moving on to new work. There won’t be 24 releases next year, though!

Print Editions in the Store

I’ve listed more print editions for sale in my online store, including a number of mass market copies. I don’t have a lot of these, so when they’re gone, they’re gone. All print copies will be signed before they’re mailed out – there’s a nifty new field in the check-out form for you to specify who the books should be signed for, as well as to order some additional bookplates for the books you already own.

The current print book offerings in the store are bundles of linked books. This is because the application doesn’t yet have the ability to calculate postage by weight and destination. That feature is supposed to be in the works, so I’ll add more individual titles to the store then. Here’s what I’ve added this week:

The Crusader's Bride, a medieval romance by Claire DelacroixAll or Nothing, #4 of the Coxwell series of contemporary romances by Deborah Cooke (writing as Claire Cross), out of print trade paperback edition

The Champions of Saint Euphemia bundle now includes The Crusader’s Kiss.

Winging It

Winging It, second of the paranormal YA trilogy The Dragon Diaries by Deborah CookeRecently, the rights to Winging It, book #2 of my paranormal YA trilogy, The Dragon Diaries, reverted to me. This means that the publisher can still sell their existing print stock of the book but not reprint more. It also means that their digital edition has been removed from sale.

In the case of this particular trilogy, the reversion of the books is based upon the number of units sold: when sales drop below a certain threshold, the books are eligible for reversion. Because I’d like to have the rights to other two books in the trilogy revert to me as well, I’ve removed the buy links here on my site to both Flying Blind and Blazing the Trail. You can still buy them, but I’d prefer you didn’t. Once I have the rights back to all three books–whenever that happens, and it might take a while–I’ll republish them in new editions.

Winging It, second of the paranormal YA trilogy The Dragon Diaries by Deborah Cooke, UK edition

UK edition

The interesting wrinkle in this situation is that my publisher had sold subsidiary rights for both Flying Blind and Winging It to a second publisher based in the UK. That UK publisher never did acquire the rights to book #3, Blazing the Trail. Their edition of Winging It is the one on the left. It will remain available in some territories in both print and digital formats because that contract remains in effect. If you think this is a bit strange and confusing, you’re not alone! I’m sure things will be sorted into some kind of coherence eventually, so please stay tuned.

Sexy in the City Toronto Book Pre-Order

My amazing VA Angie has put together a book pre-order form for the signing at Sexy in the City in Toronto June 13. If you are attending and want specific titles from me, here’s an easy way to order them. At the event, I’ll only be accepting cash, but you can choose to pay in advance by PayPal when you pre-order. This way, no one will be disappointed!

You can pre-order my books for the event, right here.

Guest Post at the Bookshelf Sophisticate

One of the fun things about writing my paranormal YA trilogy, The Dragon Diaries, was the blog tours I did to promote it. I “met” so many reviewers and bloggers who loved books, and their enthusiasm was infectious. Recently one of those bloggers, Katelyn of The Bookshelf Sophisticate, emailed me to find out what I was writing. We had a great chat, and she invited me to write a guest post for her blog. That post goes live today, and because I am the way I am (and it’s Christmas!), I added a contest. So, slip on over to my guest post at The Bookshelf Sophisticate and learn a bit more about my crowded office.
