Audiobooks & Chirp

This month, two of my audiobooks are on sale. The Beauty Bride and The Crusader’s Bride have been discounted to $4.99US or equivalent at all portals except Amazon and Audible. It’s possible that Amazon will match the price (? I’m not sure how that works.)

There will also be a sale at Chirp on the audiobook for The Beauty Bride on October 21st. It will be 99cents there, which is a terrific deal.

Chirp is a website started by BookBub specifically to promote audiobooks. They are a retailer platform so you’d buy the audiobook from Chirp. Like BookBub, you can sign up for free and receive emails on special offers for audiobooks in your genre of choice.

Here’s the website for Chirp.

Edited to add – Lisa asked about Chirp for Canadian listeners. Chirp is currently available only to US listeners, because it’s new. I’m hoping they roll out their service in other territories once they iron out any kinks and have volunteered to beta-test for Canada, if they need beta-testers. Stay tuned!

And here’s the information about The Beauty Bride and The Crusader’s Bride. Happy listening!

The Beauty Bride, #1 of the Jewels of Kinfairlie series of medieval Scottish romances by Claire Delacroix

More cherished than gold are the Jewels of Kinfairlie, and only the worthiest may fight for their love…The Laird of Kinfairlie has unmarried sisters, each a gem in her own right. And he has no choice but to see them all wed in haste.

Lady Madeline’s heart is not for sale…especially not to a notorious outlaw like Rhys FitzHenry. Yet Madeline’s hand has been sold, to none other than this battle-weary warrior with a price on his head. A more dutiful maiden might cede to the Laird’s command and meekly accept her fate, but Madeline has never been obedient. She decides to run away, though she never dreams that Rhys will pursue her.

She does not expect this taciturn man to woo her with fanciful stories, much less that each of his enthralling tales will reveal a scar upon his shielded soul. She never imagines that a man like Rhys could imperil her own heart while revealing so little of his own feelings. When Rhys’ past threatens his future, Madeline takes a leap of faith. She dares to believe him innocent—and risks her own life to pursue a passion more priceless than the rarest gem.

The Crusader's Bride, #1 of the Champions of St. Euphemia series of medieval romances by Claire DelacroixGaston battled for duty and honor—until his new wife tempted him to fight for her love.

When the Templar knight Gaston learns that he has inherited his father’s estate in France, he accepts one last quest for the order and agrees to deliver a package to Paris on his way home. A practical man, Gaston knows he has need of a wife and an heir, so when a lovely widowed noblewoman on pilgrimage snares his gaze, he believes he can see matters solved to their mutual convenience.

But Ysmaine is more than a pilgrim enduring bad luck. She has buried two husbands in rapid succession, both of whom died on her nuptial night, and believes herself cursed. Accepting this gruff knight seems doomed to result in his demise, but Gaston is dismissive of her warnings, and Ysmaine finds herself quickly wed again—this time to a man who is not only vital, but determined to survive.

Neither of them realize that Gaston’s errand is one of peril, for the package contains the treasure of the Templars—and some soul, either in their party or pursuing it, is intent upon claiming the prize at any cost. In a company of strangers with secrets, do they dare to trust each other and the love that dawns between them?

New Audiobook Links at Apple

The great redistribution plan continues. 🙂 My audiobooks are available once again at Apple!

Since they are coming down a different distribution route, they’re considered to be new works at Apple. This means that if you reviewed them before, those reviews won’t be linked to the new editions. If you did review any of my audiobooks before at Apple, I’d really appreciate your posting your reviews again on the new edition.

Overdrive and Blackstone

I’m in the midst of changing my Overdrive distribution. (le sigh) Overdrive is a portal that specializes in selling (or licensing) ebook and audio content to libraries. I’ve uploaded my content directly to Overdrive since 2012, although I’ve never loved their interface. Now, there are many other options available for getting content delivered there, all of which are easier to use. I’ve been on the fence about this, but have finally jumped off. 🙂

Since I use Draft2Digital to deliver to other library systems (Biblioteca and Baker & Taylor) I’ll be delivering my ebooks to Overdrive from there, too. There may be a short period of time during which they aren’t available at Overdrive, but all should be well by the end of the year. Transitions take time. It’s also possible that any reviews on Overdrive may not be transported to the new editions.

My audiobooks are also changing their distribution, as well. They’ll continue to be distributed to Apple, Amazon and Audible from Audible, but my contract with Blackstone will terminate on December 31. After that, my audiobooks will get to all other portals via Findaway Voices. So, the link at Kobo will probably disappear briefly then reappear with a new link. The content will be identical.

Once these transitions are completed, new ebook and audio titles will made available at all the subsidiary portals much more quickly. I’m hoping that the transitions will also fix some metadata errors, so fingers crossed.

New Website for Claire

One of my goals when I went indie was to consolidate my social media and website presence. While this seemed like a good idea at the time, as I publish more books, it appears to be less of a good idea.

Over these past few days, I’ve built a new website for Claire Delacroix’s books. The DNS mapped this morning, so the new site has the url delacroix.net, which has been Claire’s website url for more than 20 years. In recent years, that url pointed to this site, but now Claire has her own virtual château again.

That means I’ll be able to simplify this site a great deal. I’m looking forward to that, although it won’t happen immediately. First, the end matter in all of my books needs to be corrected so people don’t click dead links. I also still need to populate all the links on Claire’s new site, and add all of the audiobook covers. The blog will remain here on this site, although Claire’s home page is called New & Next to feature new and upcoming releases.

The lion’s share of the work is done at this point. Hop on over and have a look at Claire’s shiny new home in cyberspace.

If you have any issues with the new site, please let me know by commenting on this post. 🙂

New Audible Subscription Plan

The Beauty Bride by Claire Delacroix in audioHere’s another alternative for those of you who love audiobooks: Audible has just introduced a new subscription plan. Right now, it’s only for Romance. I think of it as KU for audibooks.

The audiobooks for the Jewels of Kinfairlie are enrolled in this program—The Beauty Bride, The Rose Red Bride, The Snow White Bride, and The Ballad of Rosamunde—and I’ll be adding the rest of my audiobooks to it later this month.

Here’s The Beauty Bride on Audible.

Learn more about this new option on the Audible website, right here.

AudioBooks at Kobo

Kobo added audiobooks to their site at the beginning of September, and also introduced a subscription program for listeners. I finally added the Kobo links for my audiobooks to my website, so am sharing them with you today in one handy post.

For Libraries

My books are available to libraries!

Digital editions of my books are available to libraries through Overdrive and Bibliotheca. This includes my new releases, as well as new editions of many backlist titles. I used to upload directly to Overdrive, but now am using Pronoun (a Macmillan company) to deliver to both of these library portals. Their interface is easier for me, so new releases will appear more quickly on Overdrive than they did before. I also like their version control better.

Print editions of my books are available to libraries through Ingrams. Some of my books are also available in hard cover editions from Ingrams. You can find them on the Collectors’ Editions page here on the site.

My audiobooks are available to libraries through Overdrive and Blackstone Library. Blackstone makes physical cd’s of my audiobooks for libraries, as well as offering digital download licensing.

ACX for Canadian Authors

Today’s the day so many Canadian indie authors have been waiting for! ACX is now open to authors in US, UK, Canada and Ireland. 🙂

ACX (Audiobook Creation Exchange) is a portal that helps indie authors create audiobooks of their work and distribute them. There are many many (many!) voice samples there from narrators all over the world, and you can request auditions – that’s when narrators read a sample of your book, so you can hear their interpretation of it. You can contract for the audiobook through ACX and once the book is done, distribute it to Amazon, Audible and iBooks.

ACX has a blog post today about this new opportunity for Canadian and Irish indies: you can find it right here.

Wider AudioBook Distribution

Three more of my audiobooks are going into wider distribution. As well as finding them at Amazon, Apple and Audible, they’ll be available at Downpour, B&N, Indigo and also available to libraries.

The B&N links are a little bit slow to populate – The Warrior’s Prize should be there, for example – but I’ll share what I have with you, today.
