Word on the Street

I had a great day at Word on the Street in Toronto yesterday. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect, and there were a lot of people in attendance. I spent a few hours in the Toronto Romance Writers‘ booth, plus had time to wander around.

I bought a lot of books. (So much for all the books in the house having spaces on the bookshelf! We have books on the floor again.) Publishers were offering discounts, the Friends of the Merrill Collection had goody bundles of paperbacks and I even visited the annual book sale at Victoria College at University of Toronto.

I gave away a lot of my own books, too. Thanks to Penguin, I had a carton of DARKFIRE KISS and a carton of FLYING BLIND to give away and people just snapped them up. I also gave away a carton of THE BEAUTY BRIDE from my own backlist stash, to celebrate the digital re-release of that series.

As a result of meeting a number of people, I’m booked for the World Fantasy conference in Toronto in 2012. I’ve been thinking of going to one of these confs for a while and now that it’s going to be in Toronto, there are no excuses. (Plus Peter is pretty persuasive!)

I had a wonderful lunch, bought from the Ecuadorian ladies. Gina and I ate in the shade on the grass, just like summertime.

No surprise that I talked too much and my voice is nearly gone today. It was a great time.

Coming up this week are two guest blog posts – one Tuesday and one Thursday – some more chatter on Wednesday and a bit about knitting on Friday. Did you have a good weekend? What kind of trouble did you find?

  1. Sounds like you had fun Deb, I hope one of these days I get north of the border for one of your meet and greets. I could then die a happy woman having met someone who’s very special to me.
