Visit from a. c. Mason

a.c. Mason is in my writers’ group and is yet another of those funny, smart, fun writers I like to spend time with. I love the covers she has for her new series, too. She’s come by today to visit, so please welcome her to Alive & Knitting!

In the mood by a.c. Mason

I thought I would lure you in with my title under false pretenses. Or maybe not…

Deb was kind enough to invite me to her blog and I jumped all over the offer. It was like seeing light at the end of a long dark tunnel. Okay. I might stretch the truth now and then but you can totally trust me.

Hi, I’m a.c. Mason. Wave. I write very hot (18 and over) books that are Mainstream Fiction or Erotic Romance.  These days, I spend a lot of time making things up. I used to bake cookies a long time ago…

Well technically not as far back as I’m about to take you in my evil master mind development. I was a child once. So those claiming to be adults around me say. Anyhow, back then I loved PBS. Ever heard of it? I spent most Sundays watching Star Trek the “original one” with Captain Kirk, and then old black and white movies that played on PBS. I can be a little all over the place so please don’t let me distract you.

My “younger” evil master mind brain loved watching these old films. The mood. The characters were intense. In the Wolf-Spirit series I’ve worked to capture the flavor of the early 1940s. It was a time of great uncertainty.  That’s the mood I’m here to talk about. I don’t know about all of you but when I read a book I want to be transported away even if only for a short while to the time or place the author has created. I’d always wanted to stare up diabolically in the leading men’s eyes. LOL. Who wasn’t smitten with one or more of the following: Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable, Jimmy Stewart don’t forget Flynn, Scott and Astaire.  Maybe none of the above appeal to you and I’m better than fine with it because I’ll keep them all for me.

More for me!

Here is my favorite movie: Angels with Dirty Faces (1938).

Do you have favorite?

The cover artist Valerie Tibbs did a fantastic job with capturing the mood of the stories and the time period.

The first book was out in May, Chocolate Damsel, and the second book, Chocolate Temptation, is coming out on September 19th 2011.

  1. Kathy Miller Avatar

With the exception of Astaire, I’m a huge fan of all of the leading men you mentioned above. I loved movies and books of that era. I’m going to order Chocolate Damsel, and give it a try. I think I’m really going to like it.

  2. Thank you for stopping by Kathy.
I always took issue with him being better dancer than I am.
    But I’m weird like that.

  3. I love Cary Grant. They don’t make them like him anymore. I love the premise of these stories. I need to read them.

  4. I’m a huge movie fan in general so I can’t narrow it down. If we are talking older movies, I have to say I’m a huge Hepburn (both Katherine and Audrey) fan and absolutely loved My Fair Lady and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. They were made a couple decades later in the 60s but as far as I’m concerned, they’re timeless. Thanks for the wonderful blog.
