Election Day

Today is election day in Canada.

My father always says that if you don’t vote, you can’t complain – which is a succinct way of saying that if you have the right to participate in democracy, you should use it (even if you don’t want to complain later). Women didn’t get the right to vote easily in much of the western world. Neither did minorities. Neither did people who didn’t own property. In many corners of the world, many people still don’t have the right to vote, or their election processes are undemocratic.

So, if you have the right to vote, use it. Get out there and do it. It’ll take 15 minutes, and you might help to change the world.

Okay, I’m off my soapbox for the day!
