Here’s the news I promised to share with you this month. I don’t usually talk about new business until everything is signed, but I’m breaking protocol here – because I know I’ll talk about this at the RWA National conference next week. You get to hear it first.
NAL has bought two more Dragonfire novels from me – these are adult Dragonfire. (We’re up to a total of eight Dragonfire novels, plus the three YA Dragonfire novels, plus the one digital novella. Just so you don’t miss anything!) The books will be scheduled in late 2011 and 2012, alternating with the YA Dragonfire. I’m excited about these two books because they offer new challenges, both to me and to the Pyr.
And no, I won’t tell you yet who the heroes will be…!

😦 That’s not fair, but congrats on the contract!

Well, it won’t make sense to you until you read Niall’s book AND Rafferty’s book.
I’m keeping you sane. Really. 😉

I am so happy for you. And you are very deserving of this. I remember on your website several years ago when you were trying to get this off the ground and your agent and publisher didn’t want you to go in this direction. And now YOU GO GIRL!!!!
And I can be reduced to begging for clues 😉

Thanks! My agent was always really supportive, Deb, and still is. 🙂 No one expected the historical romance market to take as much of a hit as it did – and I was a bit stubborn about what I wanted to write.
Rebranding is challenging for any author so I’m glad to see this coming together!

WOW! Congrats Deb and I’m really hoping for even more Dragonfire books. I love the stories and the fact that you still manage to slip in things about how we should be caring for the earth.
And I can be reduced to begging and bribery if need be!

13 works for me just fine! One question though, does that number include the YA books?

Nope. The YA are a separate series. There are three contracted on that series at this point.

YIPEE! Now I have to start thinking about what characters are going to have a firestorm. I really gotta figure that Thorolf is one of them. Then there’s Sloane. And the new boy from Australia. And…..
