I’ve some fun news to share with you about Dragonfire. There will be three more books and – here’s the really neat part – these will be YA Dragonfire books, focussed on the story of Zoë coming of age as the Wyvern. Along the way, we’ll find out the resolution to Sophie and Nikolas’ story. So, it will be linked to the existing Dragonfire books, but this new trilogy will stand on its own.
I’m really looking forward to writing these. It’s going to be a lot of fun to explore the perspective of a female Pyr who is the Wyvern – esp as she’s learning what she can do without a guidebook (and all those teenage hormones to spare.) It will be set in the future – of course, as Zoë was born in 2008 – and I’m still figuring out how I’m going to play with that.
Of course, titles and pub dates are TBD at this point, but the first one will probably be released in the second half of 2011. It sounds as if they’ll initially be released in trade paperback format, too.

Congrats! This sound so exciting! Will the others (the sons of the current Pyr) also make appearances? The Pyr, to me, is one big extended family. I cannot imagine her not knowing them/growing up with them. 🙂

Yes, Christina, that’s the idea. All the hot young kids learning their skills and growing up too. It’s going to be so much fun to write.

Yes, Pam. I think it will be really interesting to look at the whole Pyr world through her eyes. That gives it a different twist from the adult series, too.

This is sooo going to be awesome. I can’t wait. It is so depressing to read something and then it just come to an end when younger generations are involved so this is extremely good news to here and i can’t wait.

Thanks Deborah!
I mailed in my first ms (after completely re-writing it, thanks to your input) and am hopefully awaiting a good response, but in the meantime I have started a historical romance that I am having a great time writing. I also must tell you that I think your beet is great. There is actually a movement among young mothers to get rid of plastic toys for home-made ones and yours would be a perfect example of that. Maybe you can have a moon-lighting career in knitting fruits and vegetables for these moms. 🙂

Good luck with your ms submission, Eva.
The pattern for the beet is in a children’s book, and it is supposed to be a toy. This particular one would make a lousy toy, though – I put pipe cleaners in the leaf stems, so it would be easy for a kid to poke something with those. Ouch!

Looking forward to it though!

Oh AG, I think it will be fun. Sophie’s story ties into Zoë’s coming-of-age, which is why it ends up being resolved in that trilogy.
