“Delaney is a Pyr, a dragonshifter. These men are charged with
protecting the Earth and its inhabitants. Slayers are the Pyr‘s mortal
enemies. They want to use the Earth’s bounty for their own gain. They
plan to destroy both humans and Pyr while accomplishing that goal.
Some time back, the Magnus, leader of the Slayers, captured Delaney. He
was forced to drink their elixir in an attempt to turn him into a
shadowdragon, a puppet completely under Magnus’ control. Delaney was
able to resist the toxin, but commands have been implanted in his brain
that force him to attack his brethren and their mates. Delaney has
overcome all of those commands, but he fears that someday he won’t be
strong enough to resist. As Delaney prepares to destroy the elixir,
ending his life, he meets a woman. And the sparks fly… literally. This
phenomenon occurs when a Pyr meets his mate.
Soon after she meets Delaney, the Slayers capture Ginger. She discovers
information that leads her to believe that Delaney’s desire to destroy
the elixir may be another plot of Magnus’. But why would Magnus want to
destroy his most powerful tool? And can she get Delaney to believe her
before it’s too late?
This is a continuation of a series, but can be read alone and is a good
book.
