Rosamunde

,

Well, it looks as if there will be a chance for me to write Rosamunde’s story and satisfy the curiosity of so many of you.

For those of you who don’t already know, Rosamunde was a secondary character in the Ravensmuir series, who escaped into the realm of Faerie during the Jewels of Kinfairlie series. I had initially wanted to write Rosamunde’s story as a standalone book, but because she was an older heroine, my editor preferred that I work her story in as a subplot. Rosamunde is also a little bit, um, unconventional, doubly so for an historical romance heroine. (That probably is why I like her so much.) Rosamunde, however, was never one to fade into the wallpaper and I needed her off-stage for a bit. Off she went to Faerie, where I was sure I’d retrieve her in a later book and tell her story as she deserved.

But no – there were no more Kinfairlie books. And so I’ve gotten tons of mail and email about Rosamunde and her fate – and her HEA. It seems that a lot of readers like her a lot, too. I’ve tried to find different ways to tell her story, without a whole lot of luck, until this whisper of opportunity caught my ear.

It’s all very squishy as yet, so let’s not jinx anything. As is so often the case, the universe – asked for option A – has turned up with option B, which requires some rethinking on my part. First order of business is to get option B over the threshold, signed and sealed, then I’ll tell you all about it. Then I’ll figure out how to get option A into option B’s shoes!

Fingers crossed!

  3. I am so happy to hear you are trying to finish Rosamunde’s story! I know other women that have read the trilogy and love the books but were hoping you would let us know what happened to Rosamunde! We were also wondering if you eventually might continue the Jewels of Kinfairlie…to tell the stories of Annelise, Isabella and definitely ELIZABETH! Point out to the publishers that for every message you get, there are at least another 99 people that do not send a message that would like to see these stories continued. Only 1% of consumers take the time to give any feedback. GOOD LUCK!

  4. I have been doing some rereading of your books.Love the historical genre but not interested in the new vampire craze. Thought I may have missed one regarding Rosamunde & Tynan. You have tantalized the reader with a window into their relationship and I await the possibility of fulfilling my curiosity.

  5. Thanks Pamela –

Yes, I think historical romance is going to come back. What publishers aren’t looking at is how sales of backlist titles – “keepers” and “classics” – is so steady. Frontlist may be a bit squishy, but backlist is doing really well IMO. People just don’t want to take risks with their money.

I keep pointing it out to my editors – one day someone will listen!

  6. I also have been doing some rereading of your books.”Love the historical genre but not interested in the new vampire craze.” Ditto. I went in search tonight to find the rest of the Jewels of Kinfairlie. Did not find those books. However, having now found this blog, I would like to add my wish that we will sometime be gifted with the stories of Annelise, Isabella and “definitely ELIZABETH” Thanks for many hours of reading enjoyment.

  7. Hi Lynn –

Thanks for your kind words! You won’t find any of the six books published by Warner new – they’re all out of print. So are the three titles in the second Bride Quest trilogy, although the first Bride Quest has been made available digitally.

Although Rosamunde isn’t haunting me anymore, her nieces are still hovering around my office, demanding that their stories will be told. Maybe one of these days, an opportunity will arise. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for reading my books. 🙂
