Heartbreakers: Three Medieval Bad Boys brings you three wicked heroes of ill-repute – and the women who dare to love them.

In The Scoundrel, Evangeline is determined to recover her family’s relic from the thief Gawain. She knows he’s a charming trickster with no moral code and has vowed to play by his rules to regain the prize, never expecting that Gawain will steal her heart. Gawain is intrigued by the first lady who is his match—when he falls in love with Evangeline, will he be able to convince her that his sweet confession isn’t just another ruse?

In The Frost Maiden’s Kiss, Catriona arrives pregnant at notorious Ravensmuir, home of the Hellhound, a mercenary of dangerous repute. The last person she expects to save her child is this grim and fearless man, and she knows herself to be in his debt. When Malcolm suggests a marriage of convenience to give her son a future, Catriona knows the only way to repay the Hellhound is to save him from the curse placed upon him, whatever the cost to herself.

In The Crusader’s Heart, Christina takes a chance on Wulfe, challenging the Templar to aid her in escaping her captivity in a brothel in Venice. She will do anything to convince him that he has need of her by his side as Wulfe is the key to her safe return home. Wulfe finds himself dangerously tempted by the beautiful and resolute Christina, to the point of discarding his vows. He has nothing to offer her in his own right, but Christina’s optimism is infectious and he revisits his own past, in the hope of building a future with her.

Three bold women each dare to challenge and to love a disreputable rogue, tempting the heartbreakers to change their ways. Love does conquer all in Heartbreakers: Three Medieval Bad Boys!

For Libraries

My books are available to libraries!

Digital editions of my books are available to libraries through Overdrive and Bibliotheca. This includes my new releases, as well as new editions of many backlist titles. I used to upload directly to Overdrive, but now am using Pronoun (a Macmillan company) to deliver to both of these library portals. Their interface is easier for me, so new releases will appear more quickly on Overdrive than they did before. I also like their version control better.

Print editions of my books are available to libraries through Ingrams. Some of my books are also available in hard cover editions from Ingrams. You can find them on the Collectors’ Editions page here on the site.

My audiobooks are available to libraries through Overdrive and Blackstone Library. Blackstone makes physical cd’s of my audiobooks for libraries, as well as offering digital download licensing.

Come to Ravensmuir

Yesterday, we talked about newsletter lists dedicated to specific series. The first two newsletters I set up were for series that are in progress, my paranormal romance series, the Dragons of Incendium and my contemporary romance series Flatiron Five.

The Rogue, book #1 of the Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy of medieval Scottish romances by Claire DelacroixReaders discover my work all the time, including those backlist titles and series that are already complete. So, I’ve started the process of creating sequences for each of my existing. series, offering more of a peek behind the scenes for each one. Again, there will be discounts or free downloads included in the series of newsletters, as well as links to other resources, and special offers on print editions. Again, the sequence of messages will begin when you subscribe and you’ll receive the messages at intervals (giving you time to read each book). At the end of each series sequence, I’ll suggest other series newsletters that might appeal to you.

I’m starting at the beginning, with a newsletter dedicated to the Rogues of Ravensmuir. The first message includes a link for a free download of The Rogue and will be delivered as soon as you subscribe.

Come to Ravensmuir with me and be seduced by Merlyn. 🙂

The Rogues of Ravensmuir

There are new editions uploaded and available of my medieval Scottish romance trilogy, The Rogues of Ravensmuir. This is my first medieval romance series that introduces Ravensmuir and Kinfairlie. The books are a little bit Gothic, with dangerous heroes and a bit of intrigue.

You’ll know you have the current edition because it’ll have the new cover. 🙂

The new covers look like this:
The Rogue, book #1 of the Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy of medieval Scottish romances by Claire Delacroix   The Scoundrel, book #2 of the Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy of medieval Scottish romances by Claire Delacroix   The Warrior, book #3 of the Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy of medieval Scottish romances by Claire Delacroix   The Rogues of Ravensmuir Boxed Set of three medieval Scottish romances by Claire Delacroix

New Covers for My Rogues

And yes, there are still MORE new covers to show you!

The Rogues of Ravensmuir series originally had “candy box” covers. This means they had no people on them: candy box covers have flowers or ribbons instead of people. The covers for this series were done by Alan Ayers and intended to evoke the style of the original Bride Quest covers, which he also designed. The difference was that the Bride Quest titles had step-back covers (well, the first five of them did) with the candy box on the outside and an image of the couple on the next page. This is kind of the best of both worlds—each reader gets the kind of cover image he/she prefers—but makes for an expensive book in production. It has two covers, and the second one (the step-back) has to be tipped into the finished book by hand. Step-back covers are also more inclined to be damaged in distribution, so they have a higher waste rate even when returned to the publisher for credit.

Here are Warner’s original covers for the mass market editions of The Rogue, The Scoundrel, and The Warrior:

The Rogue, book #1 of the Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy of Scottish medieval romances by Claire Delacroix, out of print mass market edition The Scoundrel, book #2 of the Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy of Scottish medieval romances by Claire Delacroix, out of print mass market edition The Warrior, book #3 in the Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy of Scottish medieval romances by Claire Delacroix, out of print mass market edition

When the rights to publish the books reverted to me, I wanted to have the heroes on the covers. I “met” Eithne O’Hanlon, a very talented illustrator, on Facebook and she offered to work on cover illustrations for me. This is when I learned that illustrators who create cover images for publishing houses don’t create the type. These are the covers that Eithne created for the books:

The Rogue, book #1 of the Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy of Scottish medieval romances by Claire Delacroix, out of print first trade paperback edition The Scoundrel, book #2 of the Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy of Scottish medieval romances by Claire Delacroix, out of print first trade paperback edition The Warrior, book #3 in the Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy of Scottish medieval romances by Claire Delacroix, out of print first trade paperback edition

I LOVED these images, but wasn’t as happy with the type. Hmm. I had a talk with Kim Killion, who has a wonderful talent for type, and she expressed concern about the amount of space left for the type. After attending a conference and hearing about the selling power of man-chest, I decided to redo these covers. This is the next generation of covers for this series, created by Kim Killion:

The Rogue, book #1 of the Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy of Scottish medieval romances by Claire Delacroix The Scoundrel, book #2 in the Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy of Scottish medieval romances by Claire Delacroix The Warrior, book #3 in the Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy of Scottich medieval romances, by Claire Delacroix

By this point in time, Kim had created some lovely branding for Claire’s name, which is used consistently across the list. I loved the type on these and was happy with these covers. The magic selling power of man-chest didn’t happen for these books, though, and I think it’s because they’re not that sexy. Readers wanting a sexy read might not like the suspenseful Gothic medieval romance they get and readers wanting a suspenseful Gothic medieval romance wouldn’t expect it from these covers. So, we tweaked to make the covers better convey the books. Here are the new covers:

The Rogue, book #1 of the Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy of medieval Scottish romances by Claire Delacroix The Scoundrel, book #2 of the Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy of medieval Scottish romances by Claire Delacroix The Warrior, book #3 of the Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy of medieval Scottish romances by Claire Delacroix

This also means that there are MORE print books in the sale bin in my online store.

#XmasAudio 4 Winners!

Today’s winners each receive a copy of the audiobook of my medieval romance, The Rogue.

The Rogue by Claire Delacroix audio edition

The Rogue is the first book of my Rogues of Ravensmuir series of medieval Scottish romances, and our first introduction to the families at Ravensmuir and Kinfairlie. This audiobook is narrated by Ashley Klanac.

Booktalk with Eileen said this about the audiobook production:
“I was entirely enraptured with Claire Delacroix’s spellbinding gothic medieval romance between Merlyn and Ysabella. Ashley Klanac’s voice with its fiery portrayal of Ysabella sharpened the enjoyment of an already remarkable sensual story, taking me beyond myself and thrusting me into the castle of Ravensmuir with its secrets and dark, damp passages hidden within its walls and floor.

This is one of those stories which I shall happily read or listen to again. The descriptive detailed scenes, the conspiracy within, and eloquently phrased dialogue with wonderful dialect and thought put me in awe of the author and this production. She has entranced me.”

Read an interview with narrator Ashley Klanac.

The Rogue in audio is available at Amazon, Audible and Apple.
