Career Day

Off to Career Day at a local high school today, to talk about being a writer. I like talking to kids. They often have interesting – even unexpected – questions. There can be good energy in these encounters.

Will I inspire them or depress them about the future of publishing? We’ll see!

  1. How about you’ll inspire them to write, but then when you explain how publishing works now you’ll depress them? That way you can do both at the same time!! No, I’m pretty darn sure you’ll inspire a few of them at least. The ones who actually know how to spell and use punctuation anyway!

    1. Yes, I’m afraid it might shake out that way, DJ. But we’ll see!

    2. Actually, I had a lot of fun, DJ. The kids were cute – grade 8 – and had lots of questions. It went quickly!

  2. I’m all for anything that will get kids away from the electronics and into reading!! I watch my grandkids with their cell phones and internet and they don’t have any idea how to use proper spelling, capitalization, punctuation . . . it’s a crying shame.
