Author Pix

Well, I finally did it. I had new author pix taken. It’s only been 16 years since the last ones were done! Those first shots were taken at one of those glamour shots stores – I had sparkly rhinestone earrings on, and the shoot was a lot of fun. (Sadly – ahem – they are not digitized.) It was all the rage in the early 90’s to do author photos that way and it was a lot of fun, but they did look dated pretty quickly. The 80’s were over even when I had the shots done.

So it’s been past time for a while to do new ones. It’s just one of those things that I haven’t gotten around to doing. This summer, Michelle Rowan offered to do them for me and she did a terrific job. Here are my two favourites, albeit saved smaller that the big official versions:

The thing about my old glam author photos is that they never looked at all like me. The make-up, the earrings, the up-do – people couldn’t reconcile it with the real me, which suited me pretty well. These look much more like me, but I’ve already changed my hair since the shoot. Photos are static, but life isn’t.

What do you think?

The first one is the one I’ll use more, I think. Smiling authors are good. 🙂

  5. Well, I do like the second one a wee bit better. You have a sneaky grin hiding there that makes me wonder what you’re up to. It’s a little more “book cover photo” to me.

I’m glad to hear that you’re enjoying the books, Ada. It’s also fun to hear from someone who hasn’t caught up to me yet! Two more books, then you’ll be wanting me to write faster too.
