I’ve added a new product to my online store. It’s a bundle of the first three trade paperbacks in the Flatiron Five series: Simply Irresistible, Addicted to Love, and In the Midnight Hour. When you buy your print books from me, of course, your copies will be signed.
This bundle should retail at $50.97 CA but is discounted to $39.99 CA when you buy the bundle. That’s just over $31 US.
You can find the bundle in the store, right here.
As the new Dragonfire editions are formatted for digital and print, I’ve been ordering single copies of the print books. I want to read them one more time for typos before the books are published. OCR scans leave a lot of teeny tiny typos, and we want to catch them all.
This also gives me the chance to show you all the new print books. They’re trade paperback, the same trim size as the conclusion of the series. Here are the new editions of Kiss of Fury, Kiss of Fate and Winter Kiss with the original mass market editions.
The Dragonfire editions that are in trade paperback already have the gloss covers and I can’t change that setting. (That’s The Dragon Legion Collection, Serpent’s Kiss and Firestorm Forever.) I tried Winter Kiss in the matte finish here, because pale covers look good with that finish. It looks nice, but I’m going to change it to glossy to match the others. I think the glossy finish echoes the finish of the original books, which had foil stamping and embossing too. Kiss of Fury even had a tint varnish in its original edition, which was kind of a silvery-blue and very pretty.
If you’re looking for mass market editions to complete your collection, they’re getting pretty scarce. The rest of mine are listed for sale in my online store as signed editions. You can find them in Collectors Editions, starting here on page two of the listings. And yes, there’s a new cover of Kiss of Fire shown there, too. That’s the hardcover edition.
What do you think? I’m really pleased with them. 🙂
The delivery guys have been good to me this week. I have shiny new books!
Not only do these editions have new covers, but the interiors have been updated, too. The historicals have pretty illuminated capitals at the beginning of each chapter, like this:
You can order signed copies of these new editions in my online store. Here’s the series bundle for The Rogues of Ravensmuir and here’s the series bundle for The Jewels of Kinfairlie.
What do you think?
One of my challenges in going indie has been trying to ensure that my new books are available where you (my readers) like to shop. Since I’m Canadian, many of my readers are in Canada, which means that Chapters/Indigo is the place they shop. That’s the big bookstore chain in Canada. My digital books are available from KOBO, and since Indigo was involved in the start-up of KOBO (they later sold their share to Rakuten), my digital books are linked from the Chapters/Indigo site to the KOBO site.
But what about paperbacks? The terms offered by Createspace, where I’ve done my trade paperbacks to date, apparently don’t suit Chapters/Indigo. I did some digging this year and tried and experiment with another POD portal.
Lo and behold, it WORKED!
My test case was the True Love Brides series. I made them available through this other portal, just to see what would happen. This is what happened:
The Renegade’s Heart at Chapters/Indigo
The Highlander’s Curse at Chapters/Indigo
The Warrior’s Prize at Chapters/Indigo
There was a production question with The Frost Maiden’s Kiss, but it’s on its way to Chapters/Indigo as well and will show up there soon. YAY! The books are available for order from the online portal, but having them in the system probably also means that you can order a print copy at your local Chapters/Indigo bricks and mortar store.
Ha. I’m so glad I’ve figured out a way to do this. Going forward, all new titles will be published so that they’re available at Chapters/Indigo in print, too. For example, The Crusader’s Bride will be set up for this distribution path from the outset.
I’ve also started the process to make the print editions of The Dragon Legion Collection, Serpent’s Kiss and Firestorm Forever available at Chapters/Indigo. Stay tuned!
The print editions of The Renegade’s Heart and The Highlander’s Curse will have matte covers from this point on. As I mentioned to you already, The Frost Maiden’s Kiss is already set up for a matte cover, so the series will all match.
It’s become clear that availability of my new books in print is a challenge in some territories, especially Australia and Canada. So, I’ve added a page here on the website, listing the print copies of my books that I have available for sale. It’ll be updated over the next couple of weeks as I dig out some boxes and see what’s in them. (I know I have more mass market paperbacks squirreled away, as well as German and Spanish editions.) Postage is pretty expensive in Canada, but if you really want a specific title, this might be your best chance of getting one.
You’ll need to pay for the book (the price is listed beside each title) and for the postage (which will be calculated once I know where you are.) Of course, I’ll sign your book and send you some postcards with it. You could also ask for signed bookplates for your other titles at the same time. The new page and list of available titles is here, as are instructions of how to order a book from me.
As I clean up the existing digital book files, I’m also cleaning up the files for the trade paperback editions. This is mostly a question of italics and commas and margins, of me being a fussy typesetter, and of new end matter links, but the result is that I want to clean out my old copies to have only new ones. So, this is the first of three posts about finding new homes for print trade paperback editions.
There are FIVE copies of THE BEAUTY BRIDE that need new homes. Comment on this post to tell me why one of them should be yours. I’ll draw winners on March 15. As usual on my blog, this contest is open internationally. Good luck!
I think getting a box of books is my favourite part of being an author. Today, my copies of the Dragon Legion Collection arrived, and they’re just beautiful. Look!
I owe copies to a number of you, so now that my books have arrived, I’ll get yours into the mail to you.
I might have to stack them in different ways and play with them a bit first. They really do look wonderful. 🙂
