My copies of the new editions of Flatiron Five Tattoo in mass market arrived! Aren’t they pretty?
I’ll add the buy links to the book pages as they populate:
Copies of the new trade paperbacks for Flatiron Five Fitness arrived last week and I forgot to show them to you! I really like these new covers from designer Elizabeth Mackey.
They’re available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and the Book Depository. The links are on the individual book pages:
My copies of the new editions of Flatiron Five Tattoo in print are on their way. I’ll show them to you when they arrive.
What do you think?
More new covers!
Here are the new covers:
Chynna is the tattoo artist who has her shop in the Flatiron Five Fitness lobby. Each month, on the full moon, Chynna gives away a special tattoo that brings true love to the recipient. Three friends from Honey Hill, Maine are the first to experience Chynna’s moon magic. Book four is Chynna’s own story.
There’s a Pinterest board for Flatiron Five Tattoo, again with subsidiary boards for the individual stories.
You can read this series without reading Flatiron Five, and vice versa. You can read the two series in order separately, one after the other – I’d read Flatiron Five first in that case.
Once again, these will be updates. If you’ve bought the books already, you’ll be able to download the new versions as updates from your portal of choice. I plan to have these available again in August.
This winter, I’ve been doing some work on my main contemporary romance series and today’s the day to show you some of the results.
First up, Flatiron Five will have a new series name: Flatiron Five Fitness. The books have new titles and new covers – and Tyler has a brand new book.
Let’s look at the covers first – here they are in order. I just love them!
Just One Fake Date is a new book. Tyler is still the hero of book one, but he has a different partner now. I love how Shannyn challenges him and his assumptions, and how Tyler wins her wary heart. There won’t be a pre-order on this – I’ll just publish it as soon as it’s ready to go.
The other five books have new titles and covers, but are the same stories. They’re being tweaked, to ensure consistency with the changes to Tyler’s story, and to fix a few inconsistencies. Sonia’s name, for example, will now be spelled the same way throughout the entire series. And of course, any appearances from Amy will now be appearances by Shannyn – and Shannyn will be more involved with the club. Since these are just updates and not new stories, if you’ve purchased any of them, you’ll be able to download the new version as an update at your portal of choice. I plan to have the updates done in May and will update Goodreads then, too.
As a result of this transition being in the works, the website is a little wonky right now, since it still shows both series.
Just One More Time is Kyle and Lauren’s story.
Just One Night Together is Damon and Haley’s story.
Just One Hometown Hero is Cassie and Reid’s story.
Just One Second Chance is Theo and Lyssa’s story.
The most exciting thing for me is that this change sets up the series to continue. I’ll have news for you tomorrow about that.
What do you think of the new covers?
When I started to write Flatiron Five, I had a plan of what the books would be like, based on what I saw as strong trends in the market. By the second book, though, I was telling the kind of stories I like to tell, which was a little bit different from the original plan. I really like Simply Irresistible and Snowbound – okay, mostly I like Tyler and Spencer! – but the fact is that they’re a bit different from the other books in both series. That makes them less effective as series-starters. In terms of good marketing, a series starter should demonstrate what a reader can expect from the rest of the series.
In addition, the two series don’t look similar in their branding. I like the covers, but they’re not doing their job as well as they should. At a glance, readers may not realize the stories are set in the same world.
I had been mulling over all of this since finishing Bad Case of Loving You and Under the Mistletoe last year, then I went to a conference that offered a lot of amazing workshops on marketing. Wow! I learned so much – and developed a new plan. I need to do a better job of marketing these books, so there are changes ahead.
First of all, I’m changing the covers on both series, both to look more like other contemporary romances and romantic comedies and to look more like each other. I’m working with a new-to-me cover artist with fabulous credentials in this niche and I’m thrilled with our progress so far. (I love even her first draft!) I’ll be revealing those covers first in my newsletter and Facebook group, hopefully later this month. They’ll appear here on the site on April 15.
Secondly, I’m making some changes to the books. Some are small – like fixing the continuity error of Sonia/Sonya/Sonja’s name being spelled differently over the course of the series ARGH! – some are medium – like changing the titles – but one is bigger.
The big change is that Tyler is getting a new story, with a new heroine. He’s still the same finance guy who needs to be nudged out of his comfort zone, but Shannyn is a lot more forthright than Amy was. She’s sure Tyler doesn’t remember her from college, and really hopes he’s forgotten her telling him off at a party. But Ty remembers Shannyn very well – and he’s intrigued by the changes in her. She’s not his type and he knows he’s not hers, so she might be perfect for a fake date to his sister’s wedding. Ty suggests a deal and Shannyn surprises him with her terms. Ty takes it as a personal challenge to surprise her in return – and that’s only the beginning of these two shattering each others’ assumptions….
I’m having so much fun with this new book and I think you’ll love it!
This change will have a ripple effect and create some smaller continuity changes through the other books. For example, one of the things that I wanted to address was that Amy doesn’t have much of a role in the later books. There’s not much for her to do at F5, since she’s a writer. Shannyn, though, is a photographer and the whole idea of the billboards for the club is now her idea. She’ll be more actively engaged in the promotion plans for the club, which I like. She also has tattoos, so we’ll get to meet Chynna sooner. There are a lot of small tweaks like this that will add to the cohesion of the books in the series.
I’ll also make some revisions to Snowbound, to make it more similar to the other books in that series. (I’m still deciding whether I’ll lengthen the books in the Secret Heart Ink series to make them more similar to Flatiron Five. I need to finish Ty’s new story before I can think about that.) Those new editions will probably be available this summer.
And this will all set things up well for me to write a new series set in the same world as Flatiron Five. Yay! That will mean that some of the existing characters will make cameo appearances in the new books and is part of the reason I’m working on the Character List here on the site. I’ll tell you more about that new series later this year, once all these changes are published.
If you’ve bought the books, you’re probably wondering how the mechanics of all this will work. Don’t worry! It’s pretty simple. Simply Irresistible will be unpublished and become unavailable. The new series starter will be published and will be a free download. If this doesn’t happen immediately at the portals, subscribers to my newsletter will be able to download a free copy from BookFunnel.
The new versions of the other books, with their new covers, new titles, and slight content changes, will be published under the same ISBN#’s and ASIN#’s, since the changes are minor. This means you’ll be able to download an update free of any of the books you’ve bought. It also means the buy links to the portals will remain the same. I’ll add a note to the metadata of the revised books of their previous titles, so their history will be clear on the portals and at Goodreads.
But if you want any of these books in their current print editions, you should buy them now, as those editions will soon be going away.
Phew! That’s my big news! To be the first to see the new covers, and to have a chance to download Tyler’s new book free, please be sure to sign up for my newsletter, Heroes & Happy Endings!
My alter ego has been busy this month. The Champions of St. Euphemia series are getting new covers. I just love how these came out!
I’m updating the book interiors in both the ebook and print editions, and also revising the copy for each book. This is in the works right now, so you might see mixed images in the series at your portal of choice until it’s all done.
If you’ve already purchased any of the ebooks, the new version should be available from your portal of choice as a free update. (The links have remained the same.)
The audiobook covers have also been updated for The Crusader’s Bride and The Crusader’s Heart. You should also be able to update your cover image, UNLESS you bought the ebook before February 1, 2019 at a portal other than Audible/Amazon.
I also have the print editions to update. Since a new cover requires a new ISBN#, it may take me a week or more to get the new print editions linked to the ebook versions. I’ll let you know when they’re live.
What do you think?
I’m really excited about the new Dragonfire covers. Take a look!
We’re also going to add the new Dragonfire logo to the rest of the books in the series, so those covers will get a small update, too. Each cover is linked to that book’s page on the new website for Dragonfire, http://dragonfirenovels.com

My two time travel romances, The Last Highlander and The Moonstone, have new covers!
These two books were originally published by Berkley in their Time Passages line. Here are the original mass market covers – these are digital photographs of the actual books, so the colors aren’t as saturated as on the real book covers. (Imagine. We didn’t get jpegs of our covers in those days!)
These were the first books that I republished in new editions when I started to go indie. They were also the first covers that I had a cover artist design. These are the covers they’ve had since 2011:
I thought they were due for an update, so Kim and I went back to the drawing board. We decided to return to the “guy alone”, since these books aren’t that sexy, and to get rid of the clock. The time travel would be shown by the two locations, one modern and one medieval, behind the guy. Here are the new covers:
The new editions have been uploaded to all of the various portals. If you bought the books before, you should be able to download the new edition free. That might even happen automatically. If you can’t get it, please contact customer support at the portal.
You’ll find the colouring pages in the Colouring Pages category of the store.
Let me know if you like them, and which covers you’d like to see added to the collection.
I took these three books off sale while the update was in the works, but they’re available at your favorite portal again.
If you bought these books before in digital editions, you’ll be able to download the new editions as updates. At some portals, they’ll be delivered to your device automatically. At Amazon, you may have to request the new edition be delivered to your Kindle. Contact their customer service if it doesn’t come through automatically.
The Bride Quest II bundle has also been updated, as well as the print editions of all three books. There are new versions available for sale in my online store, both print and digital.
Phew! Another job done!
