The Dragon Diaries

The Dragon Diaries is a paranormal young adult trilogy, following the adventures of Zoë’s coming of age as the new Wyvern of the Pyr. It’s a spin-off series from Dragonfire. The books should be read in order.

In terms of timeline, Zoë’s coming of age takes place when she turns 16. She is the daughter of Erik and Eileen and the result of their firestorm in Kiss of Fate. This series is set in 2024, long after the end of the Dragonfire Novels, so you could read it after Firestorm Forever. The series was written, though, when I was writing Darkfire Kiss, so another option is to read this trilogy after Rafferty’s book.

      • Just read books number 2 Omg amazing. I now have to wait for ages for book number 3 to come 😦 . I can’t believe it’s took only 4 days to read both books. That should show you how much I loved them. Is there only 3 books to this series. And does she finally get with Jared. X

      • Only three books so far. As for Jared — that would be telling!

I’d like to write Nick and Isabelle’s story, but haven’t started it yet. Glad you’re enjoying the series so much! 🙂

  1. Well my book came this morning so I will be starting it tonight. 😀 I’m really sad that there are only 3 books lol. I think I could have just kept on reading. I was also thinking that this series would be amazing as film. It’s something I could enjoy with the family. X

      • Hi Susie – glad you enjoyed the books! 🙂

Yes, my idea is that the connected books (when I write them) will take place a few years later, when they’re all at university and/or working. I just need to write faster!

  2. I have read your adult books in the Dragon series. I just ordered Flying Blind for my Daughter’s birthday. I am looking forward to reading them after she does then talking with her about the characters. Thank you for writing books that give me a way to connect with my daughter

    • It’s interesting how many Dragonfire readers have told me something similar, that they’re reading The Dragon Diaries with their daughters, nieces, or granddaughters. I think that’s just a fabulous thing, to find common ground in books and stories. Thanks for sharing this. 🙂

I hope your daughter enjoys Zöe’s story!

  3. LOVED the books. Haven’t gotten to number three yet but loving the story so far. Zoe and Meagan remind me of me and my friend. I’m in love with Jared and Derek. And all the dragons. Was on the edge of my seat the entire time!!!! Thank you for writing such amazing books I’ve now been inspired to draw my interpretation of the characters!

    • Hi Kayla – I’m glad to hear that you’re enjoying the books so much. I loved writing Zöe’s story. 🙂

My books aren’t free, though, because I need to make a living as a writer in order to keep writing books. If writers don’t make money from their books, then they will probably do something else in order to survive, which will mean fewer books for all of us to read.

If I buy a fancy coffee, it costs $5 and gives me 20 minutes of pleasure (if that). If I buy a book, it costs $5-10 and gives me hours and hours of reading pleasure, plus, if I’m lucky, lives on in my imagination.

I think a book is worth much more than a fancy coffee, so I buy books!

      • Hi Kayla – I’m glad you understand what I mean. We all like free stuff, but everything can’t be free.

My books are also available in many public libraries, so your local one might be another place for you to look. 🙂

I hope you enjoy the rest of Zöe’s story!

    • Hi Florence.

Glad you’re enjoying Zöe’s story! Blazing the Trail is still available in print and digital, although you might need to order it online at this point. I’m not sure many stores would still have it in stock.

Let me know what you think after you’ve read the Big Finish!

  5. I read the entire series!!! It is sooo good. I was wondering if you were thinking of writing another book, if so awesome! If not, then I think you left off at a great point. Thank you so much for writing that series!
I also love how Zoë is so relatable.

    • Hi Nikki – Glad you enjoyed the series so much! I would like to write another book in the series (maybe another series) when the kids are a bit older, but haven’t yet figured out when I’ll have the time to do it. I’d like Zöe, Nick, Isabelle, Liam and Garrett to all have their happy endings!

  6. please have zoe and jared end up together I think wether jared shows it or not he needs someone like zoe in his life is is deep down a good person but misunderstood but zoe can see past it I know that jared will protect zoe for the rest of his life if she asked him to they are soulmated and their love burns to derek feels more like a puppy love sort of what zoe had for nick please really think about this derek is like comfort food he is the easy choice and practical one but that’s not living you have to follow your heart while jared is that spicy indian food that sets your mouth on fire but you keep on eating life is about taking chances not playing safe #zoe&jared4ever ❤

    • Hi Brooke – Thanks for your comments. I’m glad to hear that you like Zoe and Jared together as much as I do – did you read the whole trilogy? Because (spoiler alert!) they do end up kind of together by the end of that series. I’d really like to write a series of books featuring Zoe, Nick, Liam and Garrett all finding their Happily-Ever-Afters. They’d be romances, but set when they’re a bit older, maybe in college. Then Zoe and Jared would be together for the duration! Thanks for reading my books. 🙂

    • I don’t know, Kyla. I’d always hoped to write the romances of the next generation as a sequel to this series. The longer it goes, though, the more I wonder how interested people will be. I have a lot on my plate with DragonFate launching this year, too. Sorry to not have a more definite answer!

      • It’s ok. Hopefully one day you would have time. I love Zoë and her Shifter friends. I’m sure I’m not the only one who would love this, but do what you do best. If they work their way into the mix, awesome! If not, then it’s always a dream.

  8. I literally just finished reading the last book – finding that was a mission on it’s own! I started reading this YEARS ago and after all this time this series has stayed with me, i never gave up looking for the last book. Your writing is amazing and you need to have more faith in these books and your accomplishments! I bet that i am not the only one who will tell you that I’d love to have 1 last book with all the happy endings (really in it for the Zoe and Jared stuff though). Write it and the people will come and if not then at least you can put those of us to ease (lol)♡ – On a serious note though, these books had me gripped till the very end, so much so that i re-read the first and second one like 3 times, i love your style and the way you give the readers what they need, all while keeping us on our toes… Thank you for your work!

    • Thank you, Candice! I’m thrilled to hear that you enjoyed Zoe’s story so much. That series had quite an adventure on the publishing side.

My plan had always been to write a series of romances, set about ten years after the end of Blazing the Trail, featuring the group and their happy endings. I’m not sure when I’ll write that, but it’s in the queue of story ideas.

Thanks so much for your message. You’ve made my day!

  9. These books are amazing. I read them when they first came out and over the years I have read them over and over again. Yes they are that good. I can not wait to read their adult stories as well. The wait is torture. Haha. I think everyone wants to know will it be Jared or won’t it?? Her flashfire story will be epic! As well as the rest of them also, but zoe!! The ending left us all wondering what would happen as they all got older. I hope someday you do write their stories for us. 🙂

    • Thank you for this comment! You’ve really made my morning. I love this trilogy, too.
My writing has been impacted over the last couple of years by the many publishing jobs that have ended up on my desk – like the rights reversions of Dragonfire, and getting those books out in new editions, as well as the Dragonfire world guide – but I’ve finally caught up with all of that. The kids of the younger generation are starting to make a few cameos in DragonFate – that’s how characters get their way with me and no surprise that Nick was the first to muscle his way into Dragon’s Heart – which is making me think about their adult stories more. I just need to write faster, and am looking at some ways to do that.
Thanks for reading my books and for making this comment today!
