August Signed Book Giveaway

Last month’s print book giveaway was for a signed copy of The Countess in its new edition. Our winner was Marcelle Cole – she mentioned that on her move to Korea from the US, she watched the sun set over and over again. I thought that was a pretty cool detail.

In The Princess, Brianna issues a challenge to the three suitors competing for her hand in marriage: she says she’ll marry the one who brings her a gift that makes her laugh. Did you ever challenge a suitor or make a special request of him/her? Did he (or she) surprise you? For your chance to win a signed print copy of The Princess from me, please tell me whether you’ve ever made a special request of a suitor (and even how it turned out!) in the comments below.

The contest is open to readers in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK and Ireland.

I’ll choose a winner on September 1. Good luck everyone!

Edited to add – our winner is Debra Shutters. Congrats to Debra and thanks to everyone else for entering.

  1. Suitors? Who even thinks that way nowadays. LOL! I wish they would. I’d have felt more feminine, more wanted from my boyfriends if they’d have wanted to do something special for me. That being said, my hubby never asked this one thing from me. To go anywhere in the world with him with a positive attitude. I did the something special for him for a lifetime. I decided to do this from the very beginning of our relationship (I met him in Belgium). That was the best thing that happened to me. It was a challenge, I’ve wonderful memories of Syria, Saudi Arabic, Lebanon, Canada, France, Spain, and Iraq. If we could still travel I probably would, but not leaving our home in the U.S.

  2. My senior year of High School I mask my boyfriend to enter the school contest ( it was to sell candy bars) to win so I could have the top prize ( giant red and white teddy bear ) and he did and won and surprised me with it on valentines day and I ended up marry him couple months after graduation.

  3. I did challenge a suitor to teach me to drive. It did not end well. I quickly learned that he valued his car over me.

  4. I can’t recall ever challenging a suitor. The only request I made of my husband was to be faithful. I was only 19 and he was 22 when we got married. It is now 32 years later and we are still faithful to each other and happily married.

  5. I did ask him to help me with my horses as I needed to move them to a new home. This wasn’t a test he had to pass and he wouldn’t have been dumped or anything, but I expect some men would find it pretty challenging and not all might agree to help if they weren’t familiar with horses.
    Thanks for the contest!

  6. Ah yes. A suitor… of sorts. It was my first time to a new live action role playing group… this was about 20 years ago and yet this was so funny that I can remember it as clear as day.
This young man, very tall, came slouching and oozing across the room to me. He says to me “Hello… I can lick my eyebrow… with my tongue.” With a lovely eyebrow wagging salacious leer.
So I said… well now, if you can do that, I will take you home with me.
Suffice it to say, he tried, he failed, I laughed… Too bad for him, I was a professional chef and he missed out on some excellent food.
