Done!

Firestorm Forever, A Dragonfire Novel and paranormal romance by Deborah CookeThere is a moment in every book’s editing process when all the pieces click into place, all the scenes are complete, all the details line up and all the editorial queries have been answered. Firestorm Forever has reached that point. It’s in its final copy edit and proofread, so we’re right on time for that May 13 publication date.

All I have left to do is finish the excerpt for the next book about the Pyr.

Phew! This book is huge, as I’ve said before, but now I can tell you HOW huge. The book file is 205,000 words in length. Serpent’s Kiss, in contrast, is 97,000 words in the book file, including the excerpts and end matter. There is an excerpt in Firestorm Forever from The Crusader’s Bride plus the usual end matter, but the book itself is clearly over 200K in length. It is the biggest book I’ve ever written – but then the Pyr had to end the series with style. Although I wasn’t initially thinking it would be this big, I’m really happy with the result.

I’m hoping it packs into 650 pages in trade paperback without making the type really small. That’s today’s challenge. 🙂

  1. Congrats Deb, it must be a great feeling to get it complete. Now…. I can’t wait to hold it in my hands! You won’t hear me complaining about how long it is! 🙂
