  1. Beautiful cover Deb!! Hope they do a better job of proof reading this than they did on the individual ones. The first one I bought through B&N was so badly done I didn’t buy the other singles. Thought I’d wait and see how the collection did.

    • I’m sorry to hear that you were disappointed, DJ. I read those so many times that I was sure the files were clean, esp after my beta readers went through them, too. I’ll have another editor go over them again, and update the files as necessary.

  2. Would appreciate that Deb. I’m pretty darn sure it’s not a problem on your end. It was just a lot of stuff like black diamonds with a question mark instead of an apostrophe, the number 1 instead of an L, just crappy little things like that. If I could figure out how to get the original to you I’d send it just so you could see! Then you could have a word (or five or six) with the publisher who screwed it up.

    • Actually, DJ, that sounds like formatting issues. I had nothing like that in the files I saw. One of the incredibly frustrating things about digital publishing is that even though many portals take the same file format and say they publish that format, the truth is that they all tweak it a bit (and yes, often mess it up.) Maybe you could tell me what format you bought from which portal, maybe a location to where you found a cluster of problems. My formatter is awesome so if we can give her some breadcrumbs, I bet she’ll hunt down the issue and fix it quick. 🙂 The cool thing about digital publishing is that all of the portals will let customers download uploaded and updated versions.

  3. Hi Deb,

Yes I noticed a lot of errors in the first two. At the start of Kiss of Darkness there was an error, A character said something and two sentences before you had said the character had gone missing so he couldn’t be saying anything could he. I didn’t want to say anything about it though, because I thought you’d think I was picking at your work! I still enjoyed both stories though very much! And I am looking forward to Kiss of Destiny.

    • Thanks Ang for letting me know. That’s different from formatting. The novellas are going to a new proofreader this week, and I’ll upload new versions as soon as I have them.

And (drumroll please!) I’m going to send a trade paperback copy of the collection to both you and DJ as a thank you for letting me know about this. It won’t be ready until the end of June, but you two will be first in line. 🙂

  4. I bought mine from Barnes and Noble. I deleted it due to all the errors so that’s all I can tell you. But there were a lot of them.

    • Huh. I wondered about that, DJ. They just updated their portal and every time B&N does that, things get wonky. I’m going to grab a copy of the file and pass it back to my formatter. Thanks!

  5. And this care about her readers is why I’m sure Ang would agree with me that Deborah is not only a great writer but a really terrific person! This kind of thing proves that she not only cares about how many books are selling but about the people who are reading them as well. You rock Deborah!!

    • Thanks DJ!

The thing is that we are in this together: writers need readers and readers need writers. So long as we take care of each other, the whole system works. 🙂

  6. Very nice design. When might it be available in print form? I am still of the book in hand generation. Some time in the future I might find myself as a hybred reader E-Books and Print, but rignt now an e reader is not part of my finicial agenda.

    • Kat – the print edition will be formatted once the last novella is written and published. I’m thinking it will be available in late June or early July, depending upon where you shop. (Amazon will get it first.)

  7. Love the cover, Deborah! It’s fabulous! I’m waiting for the three novellas to be in one book before buying them, so I can’t wait for the print version. 🙂
