May Contest

And so the day many of you have been waiting for – contests return to Alive & Knitting! Contests are fun and I miss them. Soooo, every month we’ll have a contest here on the blog. It will post on the 15th of the month and you’ll have until the 30th to enter. You’ll enter by posting a comment. Easy peasy.

This month, since we’re all anxiously awaiting the release of THE RENEGADE’S HEART, the prize is a signed copy of new trade paperback edition of THE BEAUTY BRIDE. Historical romances or just historical books take you away to another time, another feel of how life was. Plus they are always educational and you learn so many new things. I prefer historical over modern books. There is just a feel to them where you can close your eyes and see in your mind what it must be like. Then you get a book, say for example Katherine by Anya Seton where you can actually go to the real places and see what they saw and to me that just brings it that much closer to reality. I love how a historical book can take me away from my modern problems and stresses.

I love reading. I really love the historical romances. The books are great stress relievers! Being a stay at home mom I don’t get much time to read but when I do Claire Delacrobooks are the first ones I pick up!

I enjoy historical romances because the different time and place add to the “escape” element of why I read 🙂 And as others have mentioned, it’s fun to get to know a different part of history and how life was then. Also, I love seeing how despite the differences, sometimes relationships are much the same, no matter what time you’re in!

I Love them for strong women and men characters, great reads, always fun, and i always can get so into the stories !!! I just get lost in them. they are the best !!! 🙂

I love the language and the old style manners u just don’t get that in contemporaries. Also the limitations of social aspects and the men they are always so drool worthy

I love historical romances because there are so many rules to break! An ungloved hand , a flash of an ankle, the use of a persons first name could be scandalous. It makes it all the more delicious when risks are taken and caution is thrown to the wind!

A different time and place where courtly manners and rules were enforced so different from today where there isnt much that isnt done or seen
